Unlike other Start menu button changers out there Win7 Start Orb Loader does things a bit different in that it will not offer good looks for the price of system stability. The freebie operates the changes without corrupting explorer.exe (the file remains untouched).
No installation is required to take advantage of what Win7 Start Orb Loader has to offer. Unzip the archive and launch the executable in order to see the application interface, which is anything but complicated. It will show you the current Start orb (which at the beginning will be the default on in Winodws 7) and the options set.
Working with the application is no rocket science, especially after you’ve gone through the Readme file included in the archive. The options available let you enable the orb loader and integrate an option to launch the program straight from the desktop context menu.
However, as simple as it all is, there is one ingredient you have to get in order to be able to modify the Start orb, and that is the replacement image itself. Unfortunately Win7 Start Orb Loader does not bring its own pack of files and lets you search for the data on the web. Also, the Readme file is very strict about the type of file supported by the application in terms of dimensions and file format: 32-bit BMP sized 54x162; if you try anything else it will not show in the application. Logon Editor stands for an easy way to changing the logon screen in Windows 7 and replace it with any picture you want. It can also add finer modifications to the screen, such as altering the text and button style.
Even the fresh looks of Windows 7 wear out. Seeing the same screens every day tends to have that effect at one point. Fortunately there are tools available ready to take on the challenge of refreshing the windows offered by the operating system and allow you to easily replace them with whatever pictures you want.
One of the latest instruments that can take on such a task is Logon Editor. The name is more than suggestive of its purpose but to make things clear, the application is designed as a quick method to modify the screen displayed by Windows at logon. Of course, for this screen to appear your computer account needs to be protected by a password. You can see the logon window even if you don’t have a password guarding your account, when the OS is locked, or when switching between accounts; but that would be just a derivation of the intended purpose of the logon screen.
The application is absolutely free of charge and installs in a jiffy. It is also in beta stage (a pretty stable beta judging by our testing) and works only on Windows 7.
Once launched, Logon Editor will automatically show the logon screen currently in use in the largest part of its interface. It does not feature an abundant set of options, and neither are they difficult to grasp. This fact comes as a relief for newbies who’ll definitely appreciate the ease of use.
All the tweaking is done in the upper part of the application window and all modifications will automatically become visible in the logon picture. Changing the image of the logon view is as easy as browsing for the replacing picture.
The way the new photo fits the screen can be previewed in Logon Editor directly in an easy fashion. “Preview” menu in the upper part is the key as it can show the way the new wallpaper applies. For this you have the possibility to enlarge the application window of the program to a custom size or one of the presets available: 640x480, 800x600 or 1024x768.
If you have a different screen resolution you can type it in yourself or choose the easy way and set Logon Editor to open the preview in full screen. This way you there will be no doubt about the looks of the new logon screen.
Reverting to the previous size of the application is not done through tapping the ESC key as most of the users would think. Instead you have uncheck fullscreen view from the “Preview” menu (move your mouse to the upper edge of the screen for the menu to appear).
It is not the most comfortable way to return to the normal size of the program’s screen, but it is the only way we could find; and we also tried to enable a smaller preview size, too, to no effect whatsoever.
Further options in the software permit you to modify the username to whatever you want and Windows 7 branding. With the latter you do not have the liberty of typing in a text string yourself but simply select between the real Windows 7 editions: Ultimate, Professional, Home Premium, Home Basic and Starter.
If you are done tinkering around about the image you want to pick as the new logon screen wallpaper, you can continue the tweaking process by modifying the shadow for the text and buttons in the picture. You can disable all shadow, apply a light effect with half-opaque buttons or go with fully transparent buttons.
One very handy feature for those prone to boredom easily is the possibility to build a logon screen and save it for later use. Create several of them and load them alternatively without wasting more time making adjustments. Or just send them to your friends, because every setting is saved in the file, so you can share the logon screen.
Logon Editor is in beta stage, so mishaps or shortcomings are expected. We noticed that whenever the application was launched it would display a message saying that it cannot retrieve the current user picture.
On the same note, if you open a previously saved logon screen the application does not let you apply it. However, the beta stage of the program permits this sort of wrongdoings.
You can run screensaver on your system with a single click, If you have any screensaver file like .scr extension, or first download it using Internet, there are many free sites for screensaver downloading.
If you have not any .scr file then please go to Start button, and click on Search button. Here in search windows type *.scr and search all screen saver file from your hard disk.
Here you will find a list of screensavers in the results. Pick a screensaver you want. You can preview it by double-clicking it.
Right click on the file, choose Send To, and then click Desktop (create shortcut).
To activate the screensaver, double-click the icon on your desktop.
Pada mumnya ,tempat dimana meletakkan Shortcut selain pada desktop ialah pada Quick Launch. Tetapi tak disadar jika itu terus-terusan pasti ujung-ujungnya juga akan menjadi suatu “masalah” jika Anda menempatkan terlalu banyak shortcut di sana. Kenapa ? Tentu taskbar Anda akan penuh dengan shortcut-shortcut, dan pastinya bingung jika akan memilih shortcut.

Tapi dengan menggunakan True Launch Bar, masalah seperti di atas dapat diatasi. Karena True Launch Bar dapat mengelompokkan shortcut-shortcut tersebut berdasarkan kategori yang Anda inginkan. Misalnya kategori Pemrograman yang berisi shortcut Delphi, C++ Builder, Visual Basic. Kategori Desain Web untuk Dreamweaver, Front Page, GoLive, dsb.
Untuk menyetting True Launch Bar caranya sangat mudah. Pertama download dulu programnya, lalu install. Langkah selanjutnya adalah sebagai berikut:
Klik kanan pada area kosong pada taskbar.
Pilih Toolbars, lalu klik True Launch Bar.
Klik kanan, pilih Create Menu untuk membuat kategori shortcut.
Untuk menambahkan shortcut pada kategori yang baru saja Anda buat, klik kanan pd kategori tersebut dan pilih New – Shortcut. Browse ke letak program yang ingin Anda buat shortcutnya.

Nah, kali ini untuk membuat dan menambahkan pada Start Menu Tombol Hibernate. Jadi, saat kita menekan tombol Turn Off Computer pada start menu, maka akan muncul seperti ini
Berikut cara menambahkan tombol Hibernate-nya
Click Start=> Run, tulis regedit => OK/Enter.
Cari, ikuti : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Police
klik Kanan =>New=> Key.
Pada New Key #1 box, tulis System => ENTER.
Klik Kanan System => New => Key.
Pada New Key #1 box, tulis Shutdown => ENTER.
Pada Edit menu,pilih New, dan kemudian click DWORD Value.
Iada New Key #1 box, tulis ShowHibernateButton, and then press ENTER.
Klik kanan ShowHibernateButton,lalu klik Modify.
pada Value data box, isikan 1, (jangan gunakan desimal)=> OK.
Hibernate adalah fitur Windows yang berguna untuk menyimpan data terakhir yang dilakukan pengguna, sehingga saat windows dimatikan dan kemudian dinyalakan lagi, maka data terakhir tidak hilang alias masil dalam kondisi terakhir saat digunakan. Dengan mengaktifkan hibernate maka pada saat Anda membuka kembali komputer, Windows tidak akan memulai proses booting lagi dari awal tapi langsung ke posisi di mana semua aplikasi dan dokumen yang terakhir kali Anda buka.
Hibernate ini juga sangat bermanfaat pada Leptop, pasalnya jika laptop tiba-tiba mati karena kehabisan baterai, maka Hibernate akan secara otomatis aktif (Jika sudah diset otomatis)
Nah, untuk mengaktifkan hibernate bisa dari menu Turn Off Computer, tekan tombol Shift dan klik pada menu Hibernate (Ingat : ditekan/ditahan => klik pada Hibernate)
Untuk mempercepat proses hibernate Anda bisa membuat shortcut sebagai berikut:
Klik kanan pada Desktop.
Piilh menu New – Shortcut.
Pada bagian Type of location of the item diisi dengan: %windir%\system32\rundll32.exe PowrProf.dll, SetSuspendState
4. Next 5. Beri nama Shortcut (misal : Hibernate) 6. Finish

Pada umumnya taskbar akan menampilkan caption dan icon aplikasi yang sedang aktif (dalam bentuk button). Tapi, bukan tidak mungki jika kita menginginkan agar yang muncul hanya icon-nya saja, tentu taskbar akan terlihat lebih bersih.
Ikuti tips berikut ini supaya Anda bisa menghilangkan caption dan hanya menampilkan iconnya saja.
Jalankan registry editor, caranya klik tombol Start => Run. Ketik regedit lalu tekan OK.
Masuk ke key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics
Pada panel sebelah kanan cari string value MinWidth lalu ubah nilainya menjadi -255. Jika string value tersebut belum ada, Anda harus membuatnya dengan cara mengklik kanan lalu pilih New=> String value
